Looking Good: Her

Every bride wants to look good for her wedding, but with so much planning it’s easy to push off bride beautifying appointments. Don’t get swept up in the commotion, take a look at some of these helpful hints and remember to take time to look right for the big day.

1 year to 10 Months before:

Think about any fitness goals you have: whether it’s to loose a few pounds or tone up your arms for that sleeveless dress, the earlier you start the less pressure you will feel to crash diet or live at the gym the week before the wedding. Set realistic goals for yourself and don’t crash diet -- it will only make wedding planning more stressful.

6 Months before:

Talk to your dentist about teeth whitening if you are considering it. There is more than one process, so find out from your DDS about what’s best for you.

Start wearing sunscreen daily. This will ensure great wedding skin and is a good habit for any time.

Start a skin care regimen. We know that we can’t solve all of our skin problems overnight -- so it’s important to start early to insure clear skin for the wedding day.

If you are considering getting a facial or an intricate manicure for the big day, you might want to start getting them regularly starting now. Both of these procedures look better each time you get them.

3 Months before:

Find a hairstylist and makeup artist and do a test run. Keep in mind that you want to look natural, but for pictures makeup can be a little more overdone that usual to achieve the look you want.

1 Month before:

Do a final test run of hair and makeup with the veil. If possible try it on with your dress to make sure it looks exactly right.

Things to remember when doing your own Makeup:

The biggest thing to avoid with wedding makeup: looking outdated. It’s important to look classic, timeless, and natural. Keep to your usual color pallets but kick it up a notch. Remember flash photography can wash out the look of makeup so that extra foundation and eyeliner really is necessary. Also don’t forget to switch to waterproof, for obvious reasons.
