Flowers

Flowers add that special touch to your wedding but if you, like most brides, are a flower novice, we’re here to help you get started.

The Basics:

1. Picture Perfect:

Help your florist get an idea of what you’d like by clipping magazine pictures, surfing the Internet or browsing through books. Save the pictures you like in a folder and bring them along when you meet with your florist.

2. ‘Tis The Season:

Find out what blooms are in season when you will be getting married and choose your flowers from that list. Tulips for a September wedding or Sunflowers in April will come with a high price tag.

3. Keep An Open Mind:

When you meet with your florist be sure to tell her what flowers you like and dislike, but also stay open to her suggestions. Once you give her the parameters to work within, step back and let her be the expert. Make sure you are on the same wavelength and review the contract carefully before signing.

4. Winter Break:

Some buds turn black in temperatures under 42 degrees so be sure to check with your florist for the proper care of your flowers before you toss them in the fridge.

5. Recycle:

Don’t be shy about reusing ceremony arrangements at the reception. Alter flowers can double as the guest book table flowers or in the ladies lounge and the wedding party bouquets can be used to dress up the head table.
